Pop Culture

The study of popular culture involves analysing our everyday lives as an expression of our values as a culture. Music, television, art, popular literature all tell us about what - and who - we think we are.

Popular culture also helps us to understand the changes that occur over time, how did attitudes change; what caused the changes? No other aspect of the study of sociology (my opinion!) demonstrates the cycle of the social construction of reality better than popular culture. We are, at least in part created by our culture; and in return we change and mold culture to fit the changing circumstances in our lives.
