Cultural Geography Field Trip

Spring 2006

Sacred Places Tour

As part of the Geography 2020-Cultural Geography course in the Spring of 2006 we went on a tour of sacred places in downtown Natchitoches. It was a beautiful day, and we started at the Catholic Cemetery at the end of Church Street. We then proceeded to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, First Episcopal Church, First United Methodist Church, and First Baptist Church. We observed the variety of ways in which Christianity is expressed in the landscape and within the built environment. The class seemed to enjoy getting out of the class and encountering the landscape.

Here is the class at the Catholic Cemetery, getting ready to go on our walk.
