Heritage Fest 2006

Geography 3030-North America

Fall 2006

Students in my Fall 2006 Geography of North America class were involved in a group project in which they played the role of Coordinators of Heritage Tourism for their states, which they drew out of a hat. The students had to design a tour of ten to fifteen interesting heritage sites in their states that would appeal to travel agents coming to "Heritage Fest 2006." The festival was held on November 30, and the "travel agents" were students from introductory and physical geography classes and students from anthropology and historic preservation classes. Over 100 students came, lured by the promise of extra credit. The projects overall were the best that I have ever seen at NSU, and were all interesting and informative.
