Middle American-Caribbean Trade Fest 2003

On April 24, 2003 the Geography 3080-Geography of Latin America class held "Middle American-Caribbean Trade Fest 2003." Earlier in the semester the students had placed themselves into groups of two or three and had chosen a country from Middle America or the Caribbean from a hat. The students were to play the role of a Trade Development team for that country, with the responsibility of pitching their exports to representatives from the United States, who were students from the Spring semester Geography 1010, 1020, and 2010 classes. The teams were to be pitching opportunities such as new trade ventures, manufacturing ventures, tourist potential for their country, or anything else that they could think of that would generate economic activity. The teams had to develop a brochure that could be used to attract potential investors. The class had a great time with the project, and all of the projects were good and many were exceptional.
