Personal Notes

Here are some personal pictures and some notes about myself. I recently completed my Ph.D. at Louisiana State University. I have been teaching at Northwestern State University for six years, and have really enjoyed the experience. I teach a range of Geography classes, and try to make them as interesting as possible. I was raised in Columbia, South Carolina, graduated from the College of Charleston in 1978, from the University of Delaware with a Master’s in 1981, and from the University of South Carolina with a Master's (in Geography) in 1984. I have two sons, Joel and Evan, and they are both wonderful kids. If you ever come to Natchitoches, look me up!

That’s me taking videos of the boys playing in the snow on New Year’s Day, 2001.

Walking on the Mall in Washington several years ago.

This was me in Reynosa, Mexico, in the August 2002. I was on a Mission Trip for the Methodist Church, setting up remote clinics for a day in two of the outlying colonias (neighborhoods). This little boy was such a great kid....

Highland Games

Joel and Evan participated in the Highland Games at Fort Jesup in Spring 2003. These are some pictures from the day.

Nantahala River

A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away, I went rafting on the Nantahala River, in the Smoky Mountains. It was a great trip and an amazingly fun thing to do. I recently found the pictures, and thought I would post them!

I'm the guy in the back, just to the right of the guide.

If you ever get a chance, I highly recommend the experience!!
