In November of 2007 Dr. Tommy Hailey and I took the students in the Master of Arts program in Heritage Resources on an overnight trip to Poverty Point State Commemorative Area. The group explored the site on Friday afternoon, and we spent the night in the dorm that the state has there. On Saturday, on the way back from Poverty Point, we stopped in Bastrop and discussed the cultural landscape of the upland south courthouse town. The students seemed to enjoy the trip!
